Alzheimer's Society is the leading dementia charity within Northern Ireland. Services we provide include:
- Information support and sign posting of services to people with dementia, carers, general public and health professionals throughout the dementia journey
- Campaigning for improved support and services
- Supporting research to find the cause, cure and best care for the future
We provide services throughout Northern Ireland but due to limited government funding we are not able to provide all of them everywhere. Within Northern Ireland there are currently 17,700 living with dementia however, with only 1 in 3 people ever receiving a formal diagnosis, this is thought to be a gross underestimation. Our aim is to ensure no one goes through dementia alone therefore we rely heavily on voluntary donations to be able to provide more services for more people in more areas - we need your support to enable us to do this.
The days of thinking that dementia is just about being old and forgetful are gone. People's rights do not diminish because they have dementia - nor must they ever be allowed to.
The Society’s vision is of a radically improved world for people with dementia – a world where they can fully contribute to community life & live with dignity, free from discrimination.
